Raised in Memphis, Tennessee, Brad Allison has been pastor of AVPC since 1993. Prior to that, he planted a church in Glen Burnie, Maryland, and then pastored that same church for nine years. He graduated from Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia in 1981, after which he served three years as Assistant Pastor at Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia before moving to Maryland. He and his wife, Wendy, have three children: Matthew, Meredith, and Kathryn.
Steve, the son of a PCA minister, grew up in the Appalachian mountains of southwest Virginia. He graduated from King College in Bristol, Tennessee, received an M.A. Degree in Church Music from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, an M.Div. from Beeson Divinity School in Birmingham, and a D.Min. from Covenant Seminary in St. Louis. Steve is married to Tracy and they have three children: Stephanie, Michael, and Rachel. In addition to his love of music, Steve enjoys playing and watching sports, hiking, camping, and reading. He has been employed at AVPC since 1990.
Michael was born on an air force base in California, but considers Statesboro, GA his hometown. He and his wife Amy met in Birmingham when Michael was in seminary at Beeson Divinity School. He was Assistant Pastor here from 1999-2003 serving the youth and adult ministries. Before moving back to Birmingham, he served as pastor of the PCA church in Monroeville, AL. They have 4 children who continually keep them in awe of God’s grace and mercy. Michael enjoys pretty much any outdoor activity that keeps him active, music, art, and listening to people’s stories.
Blake was raised in Birmingham, AL, and graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Communication. After college, he served as an Intern for Reformed University Fellowship for two years at Washington and Lee. Blake returned to Birmingham to study at Beeson Divinity School and he graduated with his M.Div. in December 2017. He joined the staff of AVPC in June 2016 and now serves as the Assistant Pastor for Adult Ministries. Blake and Danielle got married in July 2018, and in his free time, Blake enjoys spending time with Danielle, hiking, running with his dog, and eating cereal.

Clint was born and raised in Birmingham. He graduated from University of Alabama at Birmingham with a degree in history in 2000 and in 2009 he earned an M.A. degree in history from the same institution. His plan was to earn a PhD in history and teach at the university level. The Lord’s plan was for Clint to teach junior high and high school history at Restoration Academy for 13 years. He is married to the beautiful Silena Morrison Cvacho and they have three children; Will, Francie, and Vivien.
Betty grew up in a minister's family in Hopewell, Virginia and met her husband Jon while at Wheaton College. She has taught art, theater, and foreign languages to kids of many ages, as well as homeschooling her own two daughters, Joanna and Emma. Betty joined our staff in 2011.
Christine has been at Altadena since February, 2017. She was born and raised in Ohio, and after a few detours to Indiana and Kansas, she finally made the move south, in 1999. She loves living close to her girls, and grand-children. Her hobbies include loving on her dog, Lily, singing, and crafting with her girls. She has served in administrative positions for almost 20 years and is looking forward to serving her Altadena church family.
Girl's Discipleship Director
Emma was born in Birmingham and has been attending Altadena Valley since she was 12. She graduated from Belhaven University in 2017 with a degree in Visual Art. After college, she spent a year doing campus ministry in South Carolina, where she met her husband, Josh. Josh and Emma were married in August of 2019, and are now living in Homewood with their very needy dachshund, Lulu. Emma works with the youth at Altadena, and Josh works as an RUF intern at UAB. Their apartment is generally either filled with college boys or junior high girls.
Women's Ministry Leader
Amy was born in Atlanta and raised in Detroit and Chicago before moving to Sylacauga, right before high school. She has a heart for ministry and loves to spend time getting to know other women. She and her husband, Michael, have been married 20 years, and have 4 children and 1 dog. She loves Chick-Fil-A, but would be up for anything involving friends. Amy joined AVPC as Women’s Ministry Leader in March 2017.
Sarah joined AVPC staff in June 2018. She was born and raised in Birmingham and she graduated from Auburn University in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in Social Work. She spent the next two years living in North Carolina- one year doing the Charlotte Fellows Program and one year working for a non-profit in Winston-Salem. She moved back to Birmingham with her husband, Sam, in early June. Sarah loves traveling, photography and baking anything with chocolate in it.

Jimmie grew up in Birmingham. She loves music, reading, cooking, and gardening. She shares her life with Molly, her four-legged BFF, who is a black lab mix and loves to be the boss of the family. Jimmie has been serving on staff with us since 1995 as our bookkeeper.
Worship Ministry Assistant
Heather joined the staff at AVPC in December 2018. She was born and raised in Washington State. She married Bill in 1992 and spent the next 23 years as a Navy wife traveling from duty station to duty station while raising their three sons, Joseph, Eric, and Daniel. Needing a place to call home following Bill’s Naval career, they chose Birmingham. Heather earned her BS in Business Administration – Project Management from Liberty University. She enjoys time with her family, traveling, and coffee with friends.
Children's Ministry Assistant
The Lord has provided AVPC with a wonderful Children’s Ministry Assistant, Michelle Taylor. Michelle and her husband, Scott (a pilot with AirMed), have lived in Russia and the Ukraine, where they served as MTW short-term missionaries. Michelle, her husband and 5 children moved to Birmingham in 2017 and Michelle began her ministry with us in March 2017.
Jody joined our staff in January 2017 as our full-time facilities manager. He is married to Melanie and they have two sons, Luke and Eric. In his free-time, Jody enjoys relaxing with a good book, hunting, walking trails with his boys, and horses.
Young jin Jeon
Originally from South Korea, Young jin has a D.M.A. in Music Composition and Theory from the University of Alabama, an M.M. in Music Composition from Ohio State University, and a B.M. in Music Composition from Ewha Womans University. She has also been teaching through a Distance Learning Program at Judson College since June 2017. Young jin is married to Joe and they have one son, Eddy. She enjoys spending time with her family and reading novels. Young jin joined our staff in December 2018.
Diana joined our staff in November 2011. She came to us with 30 years of experience after raising nine children with her husband Russell. With no grandchildren of her own, she enjoys tending to the church nursery.
