Hymn Sing & Pounding- July 26, 2009

What: Hymn Sing, Ice Cream Social, and "Pounding" for the Brogans
When: Sunday, July 26, at 5:30 p.m.

What’s a pounding? It is simply the custom of welcoming newcomers to a community, where everyone brings a pound of different things that they may need in their home, such as a pound of sugar, a pound of coffee, or a pound of nails. You may want to consider things that introduce them to Birmingham, such as a gift certificate to a favorite restaurant or local attraction. We plan to present these gifts to the Brogans at the ice cream social after our Hymn Sing. You can bring your gift that evening or drop it off in one of the baskets in the parlor or Welcome Center.

(Childcare provided through age 5.)

Hymn Request
Please request a hymn only if you plan to attend. (And please don’t be offended if your hymn is not selected!) We ask that you select a hymn that we do not usually sing in our worship service. The hymn does not have to come from our hymnal. We may even use your hymn in future worship services.
