CHILDREN'S MINISTRY

Children's Sunday School Classes

Our classes (for ages 2 through grade 6) are taught from a covenantal perspective. Preschoolers use the “Show Me Jesus” curricula from Great Commission Publications. 1st through 6th graders meet together for the first half of the Sunday School hour and then split into small groups for more focused Bible study and discipleship, using curricula written by our Children’s Director, Betty Carter, and her husband, Jon.

Nursery

A mix of paid staff and church volunteers provide a safe and fun environment for little ones on Sundays. Childcare is offered during Sunday school and both morning services. Sunday nursery hours are 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for infants through age 3.

Classes are offered for 2's and 3's during the Sunday school hour. Childcare is also provided during most other church-sponsored events for infants through age 5.

Please refrain from bringing sick children to the nursery. See our Sick Child Policy for more information.

Children's Sunday Morning Worship Center

Children’s Worship is for preschool children (4K and 5K) during both the early and late services. Worship Center is a multi-sensory approach to engaging children in worship.

Through song, story, art, and prayers of thanksgiving, preschoolers are encouraged to be active participants. They learn to listen for God's voice and to respect other worshipers who want to hear God. And they learn of God's plan to bring freedom to his people through his son, Jesus--from the sands of the desert, to the road to Bethlehem, to the empty tomb.

Preschoolers are dismissed from the worship service just before the sermon and are escorted to Worship Center. They meet in Room L-1 (lower level of the Education Building). Questions? Contact Betty Carter, our children's director (betty@avpc.org).
